Les Gill

Les’ journey into professional mentoring developed naturally from years of leading teams before joining the ABM based on a friend’s recommendation. He had a pivotal moment in his journey of personal discovery when he joined the ILM7 Executive Business Mentoring & Coaching course and met Brenda.

His early career was in the British automotive industry where he learned a tremendous amount about manufacturing, business processes and corporate politics.

He is incredibly grateful for the friendships and relationships he has made throughout his life—they continuously teach him new things, help to push him beyond his comfort zone and energise his commitment to his evolution as a leadership coach, mentor, consultant, and director.

Jaguar Cars sponsored his MBA at Warwick Business School, he holds MCIPS, has attained the status of Fellow to the Royal Society of Arts and, more recently, Fellow of the ABM.

“Becoming complacent is a risk when you’re good at something; not pushing yourself to improve is as bad as not trying in the first place. There is always room to be better next time”.

Away from work he loves to be as active as possible, in spite of a dodgy knee occasionally holding him back. His dogs and extended family add immense joy to his life. His mind is always buzzing with ideas, and spending time outdoors, especially under the open sky, helps him sort through his thoughts, unravelling the spaghetti in his head. He relishes challenges and quietly enjoys healthy competition.

He’s incredibly lucky to have the love, support and encouragement of his strongly principled and skilled doctor wife who consistently pushes him to be his best.

He’s currently trying (and mostly failing!) to improve his golf game, a lifelong battle.
