Bill has been a university mathematics lecturer and has taught across the primary phase in many parts of the world, experiences that have taken him and his wife to countries far from home. Their travels included Colombia and Australia, where their three children were born.
His commitment to education has extended beyond the classroom. While working in Kenya, Bill became closely involved with the local community and founded a school in Chwele. He has continued to support the school, most recently helping provide water tanks there and at three other schools in the surrounding region.
Bill has also shared his passion for mathematics through books and academic papers, exploring the subject from different perspectives and considering how mathematics is understood and taught.
Now retired, Bill remains active. He is involved in his church, teaches Spanish and continues his lifelong passion for rowing. Having rowed competitively with a Henley crew in his twenties, he is still winning races, collecting a gold medal in France two years ago while racing with The Octos.
